I know a REAL HOUSING FINANCE EXPERT!

My game is shameless.  I have a good friend who is a Housing Expert and I shamelessly Jacked her comment from my post yesterday and Used it to make a post.

You should go show her some love

As a housing finance expert, I am really annoyed at this whole notion that a whole bunch of Muufuucas went out and blatently bought houses they could not afford.  While there was some of that, the data has never demonstrated that shit to be true. As a matter of fact 2006 and 2007 data demonstrate that nearly 40% of mortgages delinquent were held by owner/investors. i.e. folks who just want to get paid.  Additionally, the reason a lot of folks homes are unsellable or have mortgages that are upside down is because they were overvalued by who? The banks and mortgage brokers.  Appraisers have been warning about pressure to appraise upward and the problem it might cause as the market got to costly for new buyers to enter.  This is especially true in hot markets.

Many people are losing their shirts because of over valuation not imprudent home purchases. As a matter of fact nearly 25% of the folks who are currently in pre or foreclosure are there because of other economic conditions–not sub-prime loans.

Lastly, once again this thing most vastly effects minority homeowners. Financial literacy is key to buying a home. It is easy to say, that people were being greedy. But once again, financial literacy among minorities and lowincome individuals makes it difficult for homeowners to understand how to work it out when they get into trouble. Its always easy when you have the knowledge to think that others should too.

That seals it…I am a HUGE FAN

This week in Blackness is must see TV.

and Hence Forth, her name shall be…Alaska McMoose Killer.

The Bottom Line

Here is the deal.

You have a rabidly unpopular bailout plan that 33% of folk hate because they feel like they are getting stuck paying for a party they weren’t even allowed to attend and 33% of folk hate because someone told them too, even though they have only a passing idea of what it actually means.

John McCain made a BIG deal this morning about how he saved this thing and got it done.

Except it ain’t done.

Barack Obama made a point of layin low and trying to stay out of the foolishness,  supporting it tepidly at best, because near as I can tell, he KNEW it was ricketty and after watching McCain run out on the plank so far, he decided the safest plan was to simply mind his Ps and Qs and stay on his grizzle.

So, here we are, no bailout, Dow down 700 600 575, a Jewish holiday tomorrow, and pretty much nothing good has come from this so far.

And whose fault is this?

Pick a name out of a hat, and you would probably be right.

John McCain has Country First Bass Ackwards

What part of the game is this exactly?

It isn’t just that John McCain is trying this, it is HOW he did this.

As I see it, the chronology is as such.

1. Obama calls McCain seeking a joint statement of principles.

2. McCain calls Obama back and agrees to issue the statement and then suggests that perhaps the debate be postponed and campaigning be suspended.

3. McCain then goes to the media and says that he wants to press pause on the campaign.

*record skips*

Damn Homey, in 2000 you was the man homey, Da Fuck happened to you? (Jackson, Curtis, 2002)

John McCain ain’t about Country First.

John McCain is about WINNING.

This faux statesmenlike behavior is transparent.

Suspend the campaign in the name of “Country first”

Postpone the debate in an effort to “rise above politics”

*raised eyebrow*

John McCain is not fooling a soul.

ESPECIALLY not Barack Obama.

This just might be over now.

More Change we can Believe in.

Remember all that fuss about Obama’s Father’s Day speech?

No, probably not.  It was foolishness anyway, so let’s move on.

In this article by the American Prospect, you can find a good idea of the kind of weight that Obama wants to put behind the rhetoric.

Whatever the cultural or political reasons for Obama’s high-profile Father’s Day speech, behind the rhetoric is a new way of thinking about fatherhood. Obama is advocating for a specific agenda designed to remove barriers that discourage fathers from paying child support, eliminate policies that punish married couples who are working to get off public assistance, and grant public funding to proven nonprofit organizations that help men transition into better jobs, including those re-entering society from incarceration.

I read articles like this ne and I get almost apopleptic (yes, literally) about the overall discourse that exists in ths campaign.

I don’t need 24 blog posts about how YT don’t like me and my cousin.

I NEED folk to REALLY cut through the foolishness and get into the TRUE substance of it all.

It is out there, I promise you.  Let’s get after it, people.

Something Stinks.

Yup…still on umbrage alert.

Everyone is walking around talking about the big ass number of the day.

Seven Hunnit Billy.

Ordinarily I would be all over this like paparazzi on a white hot star with a crack pipe and some kiddie porn, but frankly…I just cant get it up (pause) for it.

Yeah, it is a bad idea masquerading as humanity’s only hope.

I will file it with the rest.

The election continues to descend into bizarro world, I am missing my own kids and taking care of someone else’s and I seem to have a relationship deathwish.

But school?  School is going great.

All I need is for the world to actually be inhabitable when I graduate.

If y’all could manage to not fuck up THAT much, that would be great.

KTHXBI.

Now if you will excuse me, I will get back to getting in my polyester Superhero outfit and go off to save the world.

Bah.

Mostly I came here to kick rocks publicly about the whole thing.

You name it, I am kicking rocks about it.

Change I believe in.

I am not worried about Barack Obama running the wrong campaign.  I am worried about America being too stupid/shortsighted/bigoted/smallminded/plain old scared to vote with their brains and not their gut.

Enough already.

I ain’t gonna lie, I love getting hits on the blog.

Who doesn’t?

to an extent that is why I blog, to share my thoughts and opinions.

I posted about Pastor Manning for the first time on January 19th, 2008.  I don’t even remember how I stumbled across him, but to put it mildly, it was a boon to my blog stats, so much so that it definitely distorted my own views of my “success” blogwise.

As time dragged on Rev. Manning’s act grew stale, I lost interest.  I decided to not fuel the stupidity by giving it a platform.

That didn’t stop the old posts from grabbing all the #s.

So in a fit of jealousy, and to get a better handle on my growth as a blogger, Pastor Manning got evicted.

Wiped Clean.

Sorry, folk, no shiny objects on this site.

Stakes are high.

Feel free to stick around though.

Shock and Awe

I know a Black woman who is completely infatuated with Sarah Palin.  Personally.

(pauses to let that sink in)

I know her personally.

I used to know her really well.   Today?  not so much.

Can’t speak  on this topic anymore…but I FULLY INTEND To get back to this.

Yes, I stopped what I was doing JUST to type that sentence.
